Assail Draws Inside in 2013 Magic Millions Classic Barrier Draw

Magic Millions 2013 favourite Assail’s chances were done no harm at the barrier draw this morning after the Clarry Connors-trained filly received the inside barrier.

Magic Millions favourite Assail has drawn barrier one

The Charge Forward two-year-old, who will be ridden by top jockey Craig Williams, was jostling for favouritism with Rick Hore-Lacy’s gelding Clevadude but is now likely to start a clear top elect after her key rival drew barrier 18.

Assail heads into the race unbeaten after a convincing debut win at Warwick Farm in November was backed up by a three-length walloping of her rivals in the Wyong Magic Millions last month.

Clevadude is also unbeaten from two starts, hammering his competition on debut at Cranbourne on December 15 before repeating the dose to the tune of 4 1/2 lengths at Moonee Valley on December 29.

Queensland’s top chance Missy Longstocking received plenty of luck at the draw and will jump from barrier five this weekend.

The Liam Birchley-trained filly has been one of the star juveniles to emerge so far, remaining unbeaten from four starts.

Many questioned the daughter of Sequalo’s ability to run a strong 1200m but she quashed those doubts when winning the BJ McLachlan Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths on December 29.

Fellow Queensland filly Real Surreal shot into contention with a 3 1/2 length win at Eagle Farm on Saturday and he will back up just seven days later from a kind barrier three draw.

Matthew Williams was hoping for an inside draw with his charge Ticket To Toorak but may have to rely on some luck from barrier 12.

Fellow Victorian I’m Too Sexy will be nearby in barrier 10 while Gai Waterhouse-trained pair Certitude and Sweet Idea received 19 and 13 respectively.

BJ McLachlan Stakes third placegetter Architect gains a start from barrier six as first emergency following the scratching of Purrific.

The Magic Millions market will open shortly and the best place to back a winner is bookmaker.com.au, home of the $400 bonus bet offer!
