Magic Millions Guineas 2013 Final Field Announced

There were no surprises in the 2013 Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) field which was announced this morning ahead of the $1 million three-year-old race at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Sizzling Heads the Magic Millions Guineas field

Among the acceptors was Queensland’s number one three-year-old Sizzling who heads a strong 16-horse field plus five emergencies.

The Kelso Wood-trained colt is a winner of six of 12 starts and remains a clear favourite despite a shock loss last start.

The son of Snitzel got stuck in traffic in Vo Rogue Plate before storming home for second and previously dominated his rivals to win the Gold Edition Plate.

In his short career he has already won six of 12 starts and collected over $900,000 in prizemoney.

Looking to repeat her Gold Coast Success is Driefontein who won the Magic Millions Classic last year.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained filly has proven herself as a classy galloper but will have to bounce back from a surprise defeat when she finished second in the Wyong Magic Millions Stakes as a $1.15 favourite.

Out to exact revenge on Driefontein will be stablemate No Looking Back who lost the Magic Millions Classic on protest after crossing the line in front.

The Redoute’s Choice filly returned for her first race since the Golden Slipper in April in the Listed Carrington Stakes on New Year’s Day and she was straight into the winner’s stall with a tight victory.

Local gelding Lucky Hussler may not have the reputation of a number of his rivals but he rocketed into Magic Millions calculations when knocking off Sizzling to win the Vo Rogue Plate.

Consistent Robert Heathcote-trained gelding Heza Jetsetter finished third in the Vo Rogue Plate and is likely to benefit from a genuine tempo on offer on Saturday.

Others in the Magic Millions Guineas field include John O’Shea-trained filly Hoss Amor, Bryan Guy-trained pair Platinum State and Regular and last-start winner Discreet.

For great odds and betting options on the Magic Millions Carnival, ensure you are betting at who are fully Australian owned and offer a $400 bonus bet to new customers.
