Trainer Robert Heathcote is confident that talented three-year-old Magic In Motion can continue her upward climb towards the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival later this year.
The Magic Albert filly finished in the first three in her first four race starts this campaign, before finally gaining her breakthrough win in a $17,000 midweek handicap at Eagle Farm Racecourse last start.
She will now go in to contest her first Saturday class race start in the 1,800 metre Coca Cola Amatil Handicap at the same course tomorrow.
“I’ve always had a big opinion of this filly even when she was running all those second placings but I think she can be a carnival player in the winter,” Heathcote said.
“With a bit of luck in running or the penny dropping a bit earlier I think she could easily have racked up three or four wins.
“You can look at a horse with a string of placings next to their name and say they’re a non-winner but in every race she was hitting the line hard.
“What impressed me about her win last start was the way she overcame a scrimmage at the 200 metres and went `bang’ which only good horses can do,” he said.
Magic In Motion will be looking to more than triple her current prize earnings of $22,950 tomorrow when she runs in the $50,000 race, which with QTIS bonus’ offers an impressive $53,000 to the winner.
The filly is paying odds of $4.20 to win tomorrow’s race at bookmaker.com.au and is the market mover for the race.
