Missy Longstocking Chasing Fourth Straight in 2012 BJ McLachlan Stakes

Queensland filly Missy Longstocking will be out to keep an unbeaten record alive and take her winning streak to four when she contests the Group 3 2012 BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Liam Birchely is confident Missy Longstocking is up to the task in the Bj McLachlan Stakes

After scoring victories by huge margins in the first two starts of her career, the Liam Birchley-trained filly wasn’t quite as convincing but still managed to get the job done in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes (1000m) at Eagle Farm two weeks ago.

The daughter of Sequalo is heading towards the 2013 Magic Millions Classic (1200m) next week for which she is currently a $21 chance.

Despite many suggesting she will struggle over 1200m after her last outing, Birchley is confident she is on track for the juvenile feature.

“She was already qualified for the Magic Millions so I didn’t have her at her top for the Calaway Gal Stakes,” Birchley told Racing Queensland.

“I was quite happy with her run. I was hoping she would win on her ability which she did and I knew she would improve a lot from the run.”

The Eagle Farm-based trainer believes she can continue her winning form this weekend and said barrier seven is “suitable” for the talented youngster.

But it will be no walk in the park and Missy Longstocking will be forced to topple a number of quality rivals if she is to again taste success this weekend.

Heading the field is Toowoomba colt Sir Luminar who produced an all-the-way win on debut in the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes (1000m) at Eagle Farm two weeks ago and he is joined by Magic Millions Clockwise Classic winner I’m Too Sexy and Gai Waterhouse-trained pair Sweet Idea and Northern Glory.
