2012 Vo Rogue Plate Betting Preview and Tips

Doomben hosts the pick of the meetings across the country this Saturday and one of the top races on the exciting eight-race program is the Group 3 2012 Vo Rogue Plate (1200m).

Sizzling is the Races.com.au tip to win the Vo Rogue Plate

A strong 15-horse field will contest the three-year-old feature with Queensland’s star colt Sizzling an odds-on favourite at $1.60 with bookmaker.com.au.

Only one other runner falls under double figures, with Gerald Ryan sending last-start Rosehill winner Dances On Stars ($6) north to tackle the Queenslanders.

After the top two chances the market becomes quite crowded with last-start winner Caliente joined by Gold Edition Plate third placegetter Saluter and Mishani Persuader at $12.

Unsure who to back in this Magic Millions Guineas lead-up? Don’t worry as the Races.com.au team are here to help and have been pouring over the form to bring you our very best Vo Rogue Plate betting tips.

The Winner

#1 Sizzling $1.60

Nobody likes tipping the odds-on favourite but Sizzling simply looks a class above his rivals here. He’s $1.60 but could well be shorter by race jump and his record justifies it.

Has won six from 11 starts, including two from two at Doomben, and was simply sensational when reeling off an electric turn of foot to put paid to his rivals by a length and a half in the final 300m of the Gold Edition Plate.

Drawn well in barrier seven it’s hard to see anything knocking off the favourite.

The Placings

#6 Heza Jetsetter $26.00 and #3 Dances On Stars $6.00

Queensland’s leadign trainer Robert Heathcote has always had a high opinion of improving gelding Heza Jetsetter and he has begun to realise his potential in recent times.

The son of Jet Spur has won three of his last four starts at Eagle Farm, is at peakness and appears ready to step up in class this weekend.

Dances On Stars travels up from Sydney for this race off the back of a 2 1/2 length win at Rosehill earlier this month.

No stranger to Queensland racing, the Gerald Ryan-trained colt placed three times behind Sizzling at the Queensland Winter Carnival which highlights his ability to match it at this level.
