Vo Rogue Plate 2012 Field Headed by Sizzling

Queensland’s number one three-year-old Sizzling is the clear standout in a 15-horse field named to contest the Group 3 2012 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Sizzling will be tough to beat in the Vo Rogue Plate

The talented colt stands clear as the favourite for next month’s $1 million 2013 Magic Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) after an outstanding first-up win in the Gold Edition Plate on December 15.

On that occasion the Kelso Wood-trained galloper gave his rivals a huge headstart at the 400m mark before turning on the gas and reeling them in quickly to score what turned out to be a comfortable 1 1/2 length win.

Queensland’s leading jockey has formed a terrific combination with Sizzling and will ride him on Saturday before beginning treatment for throat cancer in early January.

It means Munce will miss the Magic Millions ride but is hopeful he will be back to reunite at the Queensland Winter Carnival where Sizzling enjoyed tremendous success as a two-year-old last season.

While Sizzling is the clear horse to beat on Saturday, there are plenty knocking down the door to challenge including Robert Heathcote-trained gelding Heza Jetsetter.

The son of Jet Spur is also Magic Millions bound after winning three of his last four starts and finishing second on the other occasion.

Also coming off a last-start win is emerging filly Caliente who produced a fast finish to pass her rivals and win the Listed Mode Plate by more than a length on December 8.

Travelling up from Sydney for the race is Gerald Ryan-trained colt Dances On Stars who is familiar with Queensland after a consistent two-year-old campaign during the winter carnival.

Among his top performances were three place finishes behind Sizzling and he showed last start at Rosehill that he has made the transition as a three-year-old when winning by 2 1/2 lengths in a BM80 race at Rosehill.

Others in the Vo Rogue Plate field include Gold Edition Plate placegetter Saluter and Patinack pair Sookie and Reflectance.

When markets open shortly on the Brisbane Saturday action, bookmaker.com.au will have excellent odds.

At the Australian-owned  bookie summer betting has never been better as they are currently offering a $400 bonus bet to new customers.
