Sydney Trip Pays Off as Adebisi Wins 2012 Razor Sharp Handicap

The decision to take Adebisi to Sydney paid off for Queensland trainer Desleigh Forster at Warwick Farm on Saturday as the speedy gelding took out the Listed 2012 Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m).

Adebisi was too strong for his southern rivals in the Razor Sharp Handicap

As a four-times stakes winner, the five-year-old has been forced to carry big weights in Brisbane but was a different horse on Saturday with just 54.5kg on his back.

With top Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman in the saddle, Adebisi showed typically strong gate speed and assumed the lead early in the race.

That is where the son of Shovhog stayed for the entire trip, holding out Bound To Blush and Riva De Lago to take top honours in the $100,000 event.

Forster, who had an excellent day as exciting prospect I’m Cool also bolted home in Brisbane, said more Sydney trips were likely for Adebisi in an effort to get favourable weights.

“He will be making a few trips backwards and forwards just to get away from the handicapper in Brisbane,” Forster said.

“He’s a good horse most of the time. It’s just that weight gets him in Queensland.”

Bowman produced a textbook front-running ride on the Queensland sprinter and praised the fight of his mount at the back end of the race.

“I must admit that at the 250 (metres) I thought she [Bound To Blush” was going to offer a challenge but my bloke just fought and was holding her easily late,” Bowman said.
