Mr Moet’s Success Continues with 2012 CB Cox Stakes Win

Perth Summer Racing Carnival 2012 star Mr Moet has continued his outstanding campaign in the nation’s west with a win in the Group 2 2012 CB Cox Stakes (2100m) on Saturday.

The five-year-old headed into the $225,000 feature on the back of a Group 1 win and a Group 1 second and again showed his class to defeat 2013 Perth Cup fancy and stablemate Chester Road and the Grant Williams-trained Ranger by nearly a length.

Mr Moet was positioned towards the back of the field by Daniel Staeck before reeling off a finish that left trainer Adam Durrant in awe of his stable star.

“When the sprint went on Chester Road actually got Mr Moet off-the-bit, but from the 500m I could see the other boy clicking into his gears,” Durrant said.

“I know how good this guy is, forget what he’s only beating, this horse will go over to Melbourne and win a good race over a journey.”

The win took the son of Mosayter’s brilliant career record to 12 victories from 26 outings and his prize pool to more than $1.1 million.

No future targets have been set in stone for the exciting galloper but Durrant confirmed he would get a chance to take on the east-coast horses in 2013.
