Angela Davies’ progressive Gosford galloper She’s A Stalker has shortened in the pre-field markets for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 2013 following their upset win in the Wyong Magic Millions Stakes on Thursday.
The Ferocity filly went out as a $7 shot in the $100,000 Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes (1200m) second-up for the season and caught the eye with an impressive one length victory over the odds-on favourite and this year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic champion Driefontein.
Before yesterday’s big win, their second from six career starts to date, She’s A Stalker was rated a $17 chance in the online Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds for the $1 million feature running at the Gold Coast on January 12, 2013.
The bookies have since wound them into $12, an equal price with the John O’Shea-trained General Nediym filly Hoss Amor who hasn’t raced since their fifth to Cavalry Rose in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in early October, with She’s A Stalker moving up to 25th on the 2013 Magic Millions Guineas order of entry.
Markets continue to be led by Kelso Wood’s Group 1 winning Queenslander Sizzling whose price was slashed from $5 into $3.20 at bookmaker.com.au after the Snitzel colt easily won the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm on December 15.
Yesterday’s beaten Wyong Magic Millions Stakes favourite Driefontein meanwhile occupies the second line of Gold Coast MM Guineas betting at an easing price of $7 out from $6.50.
The other top fancies in the ante-post markets are then the fellow Waterhouse-trained duo of Urban Groove ($8) and No Looking Back.
Charge Forward filly Urban Groove has had just three starts to date winning her opening two, including the Listed Reginald Allen at Rosehill in September.
She was last seen running a credible fourth to Norzita in the Group 1 Coolmore Flight Stakes over the Randwick mile on October 6 and there is still no word as to their resuming run.
No Looking Back meanwhile was first past the post in last year’s $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions Classic but was regulated to second behind stablemate Driefontein after a protest was upheld against their jockey Nash Rawiller.
The Redoute’s Choice filly failed in the Golden Slipper last time out when 10th to Pierro, also from Waterhouse’s strong crop of now three-year-olds, and has been confirmed as a definite MM Stakes contender next month after two good trials in Sydney this season.
