Fire Up Fifi Too Good In 2012 Just Now Quality – Eagle Farm Results

Fire Up Fifi has won the Listed Just Now Quality at Eagle Farm Racecourse last Saturday December 15, 2012.

The five-year-old mare claimed her second-up win over 1,300 metres in the $80,000 race, after placing fifth in the Listed Travel Associates Classic last start.

Fire Up Fifi won the race by a head in front of last start winner Jester’s Girl, who finished second, and Amalfi Dreams, who placed in third.

The Bradbury’s Luck mare has now won nine of her 22 race starts and has earned more than $245,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

Trainer Robert Heathcote was thrilled with Fire Up Fifi’s winning result in the 2012 Just Now Quality.

The sprinter will now head towards the Listed Bernborough Handicap at Doomben Racecourse on December 29, 2012.

“My goal all along with her has been the Bernborough and today was a little bonus,” Heathcote said.

“I hope the handicapper’s a little bit kind to her because she looked like getting in on the minimum and I hope that’s still the case.”

Heathcote’s second runner, Fillydelphia, ran an unlucky fourth in Saturday’s 2012 Just Now Quality after being disappointed for a run.

“I ran second in the race last year with Fillydelphia who was beaten a nose and she was desperately unlucky today,” he said.

“If she’d have got out she would’ve made it very interesting.”

Funtantes, who was Heathcote’s other runner in the race, passed the post in eighth.

Winning jockey Ryan Wiggins has nothing but good things to say about Fire Up Fifi after the race was run.

“She’s just a real little trier and one of those horses who gives you a really good buzz,” Wiggins said.

“I tought today’s race was probably too short for her but at the 600 metres it was just a matter of getting out.

“You’ll see the best of her when she steps up to a mile.”
