Sizzling Far Too Strong in 2012 Gold Edition Plate

Sizzling cemented his position as the number one three-year-old in Queensland at Eagle Farm today as he reeled off a sharp finish to claim the Listed 2012 Gold Edition Plate (1200m) by more than a length.

Sizzling

Sizzling was a dominant winner in the Gold Edition Plate

Jumping an odds-on favourite, the Kelso Wood-trained sprinter got out of the gates quickly before settling in his typical race position slightly worse than midfield.

As the field entered the straight the son of Snitzel was giving the front-runners a big lead before being called upon by Queensland’s leading jockey Chris Munce.

With 300 metres to go Sizzling found an extra gear and quickly over took his rivals to score a 1 1/2 length victory ahead of Platinum State and Saluter.

The victory was the Queenslander’s sixth from 11 career outings and his fifth at stakes level. He continued his love for the Eagle Farm track and has now won four of five starts at the venue.

Sizzling was already the favourite for next month’s $1 million 2013 Magic Million Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast and is likely to shorten after today’s impressive display.

Markets will re-open shortly on both the Magic Millions Classic and Magic Millions Guineas and the best place to back a winner is at Races.com.au preferred bookie bookmaker.com.au.
