Sir Luminar Impressive 2012 Phelan Ready Stakes Winner

Toowoomba colt Sir Luminar announced himself as an above average two-year-old at Eagle Farm today when he produced a strong performance to take out the Listed $100,000 2012 Phelan Ready Stakes (1000m).

Having the first race of his career on the back of a big trial win at Toowoomba last month, the big colt jumped keenly with leading Queensland jockey Chris Munce in the saddle.

After shooting to an early lead, the son of Choisir was able to hold his position at the front of the field for the entire trip and was strong through the line to score a one-length win ahead of the Steven O’Dea-trained Sir Moments and favourite Londehero.

Trained by Michael Nolan, Sir Luminar is eligible to compete in the $2 million 2013 Magic Millions 2YO Classic which will take place at the Gold Coast in January.

The win saw the impressive colt collect $64,000 in prizemoney which elevates him to third position in the Magic Millions Classic order of entry.

Currently heading the order of entry with $122,000 in prizemoney is Victorian colt I’m Too Sexy who scored a three-length debut win in the Magic Millions Clockwise Classic at Ballarat late last month.
