Group 1-placed mare Soft Stand has been jointly purchased by Arrowfield Stud and BC3 Thoroughbreds and will be immediately transferred to new trainer Paul Messara at Scone.
It comes just days after former trainer Colin Little set the bar high for the autumn saying he would be disappointed if the four-year-old didn’t win a Group 1 in her next preparation.
The daughter of Dansili had already begun the early stages of her preparation at Little’s Caulfield base but will be transported to Scone in the next couple of days to begin training with Messara.
Soft Sand burst on to the scene on debut in July last year when she scored a three-length win at Bendigo before returning last summer to post impressive results.
Included in her highlights was a three-length win in the Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes and a second to Shopaholic in the Group 2 Armanasco Stakes.
After a brief winter campaign Soft Sand returned in the spring to produce a number of solid performances including a runner-up finish behind Appearance in the Group 1 Myer Classic at Flemington in November.
BC3’s Simon Marshall said they will “target Group 1 races in the autumn” with the exciting prospects and even said they could look to test her internationally in the future.
