Gold Edition Plate 2012 – Betting Update and Tips

The 2012 Brisbane Summer Series action continues at Eagle Farm this weekend and one of the most anticipated events on the card is the Listed 2012 Gold Edition Plate (1200m).

Sizzling

Sizzling is the Races.com.au pick to win the Gold Edition Plate

A strong field of 15 three-year-olds will contest the $100,000 event with Kelso Wood’s classy colt Sizzling the odds-on favourite at $1.90.

Lucky Hussler, who is chasing a third straight win, is next best at $7 with three other runners falling under double figures.

Discreet ($8), Reflectance ($8) and Saluter ($8) are all well-regarded while The Conspirator ($17) could be one for the value players as he looks to chase a third straight win.

Not sure who to back in this Eagle Farm feature? Don’t worry, the Races.com.au experts have been hard at work to bring your our very best Gold Edition Plate tips.

To Win

#1 Sizzling $1.90

It would take a bold punter to tip against Sizzling here. Simply looks the class horse in the field. Is three from four at the track, a Group 1 winner as a two-year-old and dropping back in class after taking some of the nation’s best at the Melbourne spring carnival.

Just two months ago he went within half a length of star filly Snitzerland over this distance in the $250,000 Blue Sapphire at Caulfield.

To Place

#6 Reflectance $8.00 and The Conspirator $17.00

The Patinack-owned Reflectance is still raw but has signalled plenty of potential in the early part of his career. Has won three of six starts and secured minor placings on two other occasions. Last seen scoring a 2 1/2 length win at Eagle Farm in October and is coming off a strong barrier trial on December 4.

The Conspirator is only lightly raced but has already shown he knows how to win. Has won three of four starts and drawn reasonably in barrier seven he is a chance at a big price here.
