Rawiller Confident Fiumicino Can Salute In 2012 Christmas Cup

Jockey Nash Rawiller is certain that he can continue his flawless record aboard Fiumicino in the Listed Christmas Cup at Rosehill Racecourse this Saturday December 15, 2012.

Rawiller partnered Fiumicino in his last start win in the Listed ATC Cup at Warwick Farm on December 1.

Fiumicino

Rawiller is confident that last start winner Fiumicino can continue his winning ways in the 2012 Christmas Cup.

The jockey feels that based on that run, the horse will be hard to beat come Saturday’s 2012 Christmas Cup.

Fiumicino has not drawn ideally for the race, and will be jumping from barrier nine in the 10 horse field.

However, Rawiller is unconcerned by the wide barrier draw.

“He drew the outside gate last start and was able to overcome that,” Rawiller said.

“We’ll just roll forward again.

“It looks a good race for him and the 2400m will be no problems.

“At Warwick Farm he was able to carry the big weight and fight them all off and the main thing to come out of it was that he felt terrific in his action.

“Obviously he seems to be racing in great heart at the moment.”

Fiumicino is a spritely nine-year-old who last start posted his first victory in three and a half years.

Despite his age, Rawiller does not expect Fiumicino to show any signs of his years when he runs in the 2012 Christmas Cup.

“He felt like he was just peaking and showed no signs of carrying anything wrong with him,” he said.

“He felt like a six-year-old.”

Fiumicino has won six of his 39 race starts during his horse racing career and has earned more than $3 million in prize money.
