Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Last year’s Magic Millions Classic winner Drieftontein tops the order of entry of the 116 horses nominated for January’s 2013 Magic Millions Guineas which will take place at the Gold Coast.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained filly had her spring campaign cut short due to injury after finishing second to Snitzerland in the San Domenico Stakes but has made a promising return with two recent trials.
Lightly raced for just seven career starts, the daughter of Fastnet Rock is highly regarded and has scored four career wins for over $1.4 million in prizemoney.
Second on the order of entry is top Queensland colt Sizzling who finished fourth in the Magic Millions Classic last year.
The Kelso Wood-trained galloper then went on to produce an unbeaten Queensland winter campaign before performing solidly with fourth and sixth-place finishes in the Blue Sapphire and Coolmore Stud Stakes at the Melbourne Spring Carnival.
Sizzling will make his Queensland return this weekend where he will start as the one to beat in the Listed Gold Edition Plate.
No Looking Back, another from the Waterhouse stable, has not yet competed as a three-year-old but sits at third in the order of entry after a two-year-old career that included runner-up finishes in both the Magic Millions Classic and the Blue Diamond Stakes.
There is no shortage of quality or form horses amongst the Magic Millions Guineas nominations with other notable horses including Hoss Amor, Caliente, Reflectance and Heza Jetsetter.
The John O’Shea-trained Hoss Amor won three of four stakes-level starts at the Queensland winter carnival and also ran second to Snitzerland in the Champagne Stakes at Moonee Valley in September.
Caliente, Reflectance and Heza Jetsetter have all shown strong form in Queensland recently, with Sequalo filly Caliente coming off a particularly strong win at Eagle Farm on the weekend.
The lightly-raced Reflectance has finished in the top two in four starts this campaign while Robert Heathcote’s Heza Jetsetter has won three of his past four outings.
Others included in Magic Million Guineas nominations are Gai Waterhouse-trained filly Urban Groove, the Patinack-owned Sookie and recent Eagle Farm winner Hi Son.
