Quality Mares Included in 2012 Just Now Quality Nominations

The Brisbane Summer Series continues at Eagle Farm this Saturday and one of the highlights on the eight-race card is the Listed 2012 Just Now Quality (1300m) for fillies and mares.

Funtantes is one of three Robert Heathcote-trained horses nominated for the Just Now Quality

Some of the best mares in the sunshine state will be on show in the $80,000 event and leading Brisbane trainer Robert Heathcote has entered an exciting trio of Fire Up Fifi, Fillydelphia and Funtantes.

Fire Up Fifi made plenty stand up and take notice during the winter in a campaign where she won five of seven starts and recorded minor placings in her two other outings.

The grey mare is expected to appreciate the extra distance this weekend after finishing fifth first-up in the Listed Travel Associates Classic (1200m) on December 1.

The inconsistent Fillydelphia possesses plenty of talent but will have to bounce back from last-place finish in early November.

Funtantes has been a picture of consistency since resuming in October, with a first-up win backed up a runner-up finish in the DPMA Handicap and a third in the Listed Travel Associates Classic.

Michael Lakey’s promising mare Risk Aversion signalled her potential during the winter but will also have to turnaround a poor first-up seventh in the Travel Associates Classic.

The daughter of Encosta De Lago beat Funtantes to win the Listed Juanmo Stakes in April and was beaten by just more than a length when sixth in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara in June.

Impressive four-year-old Cuddlesome pressed her claims for bigger things when producing four straight wins between August and Septemer but is another who is coming off a disappointing performance (sixth) in the Travel Associates Classic.

Bringing strong form into the race is Sydney mare Jester’s Girl who beat the locals in the Travel Associates Classic to claim the first stakes win of her career.

Other nominated horses include Bruce Hill-trained pair Our Hussey and Clam Chowder and Gillian Heinrich’s last-start winning filly Sunset Affair.

When betting opens later this week on Saturday’s Eagle Farm action, don’t miss the great odds on offer at bookmaker.com.au.

The Australian-owned bookie offers a wide range of summer betting options and also has a $400 bonus bet offer for new customers.
