2012 Hong Kong Mile – Final Field, Barriers & Betting

A total 12 horses have been confirmed for the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile, which will run at Sha Tin Racecourse this Sunday December 9, 2012.

Favourite to take out the 1,600 metre race is currently Glorious Days, who is paying odds of $4.20 at bookmaker.com.au.

Glorious Days has won six of his 10 race starts and has earned more than $1.2 million in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Hussonet gelding placed second in the Group 2 Sha Tin Trophy first-up this preparation, before winning the Group 2 The Jockey Club Mile in convincing fashion last start.

Also included in the 2012 Hong Kong Mile is English galloper Gordon Lord Byron.

The four-year-old’s trainer, Tom Hogan, is confident his horse will be at his best for this Sunday’s race.

“He worked well this morning and I’m very pleased with him,” Hogan said.

“He travelled well and he’s in good order.

“He loves good firm ground and we don’t get much of that at home but hopefully we’ll get it here on Sunday if the rain stays away.”

Gordon Lord Byron has never before won over more than 1,400 metres in the past, however, Hogan is not fazed.

“I don’t think the ‘mile’ will be an issue for him,” he said.

“He’s just kept on improving this season.

Siyouma

Siyouma is one of 12 horses to accept for the 2012 Hong Kong Mile final field.

“I think he probably has to improve again to win on Sunday but we’ll see. We had to give him his chance because he’s done so well.”

Gordon Lord Byron is currently paying odds of $11 to win the 2012 Hong Kong Mile at bookmaker.com.au.
