2012 Kingston Town Classic Barriers – Luckygray Draws Four

Luckygray remains the firm favourite to win the Kingston Town Classic 2012 at Ascot Racecourse this Saturday after drawing ideally in barrier four for the final Perth Summer Racing Carnival Group 1 event.

Playing God

Dual Kingston Town Classic winner Playing God has drawn barrier 7 for this Saturday's race

Gino Poletti’s Bradbury’s Luck grey ran fifth in the $500,000 Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) 12 months ago on the back of a protest win after originally crossing runner-up in the Railway Stakes.

This year the now five-year-old was second past the post again in the Railway as the beaten favourite when carrying the 58kg topweight.

Getting back to weight-for-age on Saturday, and now with a nice gate four draw, Luckygray will jump top elect in the Kingston Town Classic odds.

Other notable hopefuls with inside Kingston Town Classic barriers include upset Railway Stakes winner Mr Moet on the rails in gate one, Lindsey Smith’s Red Ransom filly Fuddle Dee Duddle (barrier two) who will again be ridden by star interstate hoop Glen Boss as she looks to become the first filly in history to win the race, and third fancy Ranger (barrier five) out to improve on their first-up seventh in the Railway.

Dual defending Kingston Town Classic winner Playing God meanwhile is better than mid-field with barrier seven, Neville Parnham’s Blackfriars stallion coming off a good fourth in the Railway.

Playing God won the 2010 Kingston Town Classic as a three-year-old from barrier eight and returned last year to win the classic again from barrier five.

The fellow Parnham-trained God Has Spoken meanwhile is also drawn well with gate three.

Horses that have drawn wider with work to do on Saturday then include Blackfriars mare Rosie Rocket (barrier eight) coming off an eye-catching third in the Railway, Michael Moroney’s veteran Victorian raider Wall Street (barrier 13) and first emergency Rebelson (barrier 12) who remains inside the top half of Kingston Town Classic betting despite not being assured of a start.
