Fuddle Dee Duddle Loses Moreira for Kingston Town Classic 2012

Ace Singapore jockey Joao Moreira will not be making the trip down under to ride the Lindsey Smith-trained filly Fuddle Dee Duddle in Saturday week’s 2012 Kingston Town Classic with a stellar ride at the Hong Kong International meeting taking precedence.

Dual Singapore Premiership winner Moreira informed connections of the Red Ransom three-year-old that while he would love to be there at Perth’s Ascot Racecourse on December 8 for the $500,000 Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m), he would be honouring a riding commitment to Super Easy in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin the following day.

Fuddle Dee Duddle’s part-owner Eddie Rigg is now in a desperate search to secure a new jockey to ride the Champion Stakes winner in the Kingston Town Classic, her regular jockey Paul Harvey unable to get down to the 50kg light-weight she is allocated under the weight-for-age conditions of the event.

Rigg’s best option will be to search for an interstate jockey willing to make the trip over.

“He (Moreira) was keen to come and we started making arrangements on Monday,” Rigg said.

“But he has to ride at Hong Kong the day after the Kingston Town.

“It’s disappointing but we’ll work through it and find another jockey.”

In the current ante-post Kingston Town Classic odds at the Aussie bookies Fuddle Dee Duddle, last seen running a brave fourth to Sydney raider Academus in the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) against her own age on November 24, is rated a $13 chance.

Markets are led by beaten Railway Stakes favourite Luckygray ($2.70) just ahead of dual defending Kingston Town Classic champ Playing God ($4.80) who ran an eye-catching fourth to surprise winner Mr Moet in the Railway Stakes last Saturday.

Fuddle Dee Duddle was originally accepted to back up this Saturday in the $80,000 Listed Placid Arc Stakes (1200m) for three-year-olds at Ascot but after a standard veterinary examination she has now been scratched from the event as has Hussars.
