Myalup-based horseman Justin Warwick is over the moon after booking ace Victorian hoop Glen Boss to ride his talented mare Rosie Rocket for her big test in the Railway Stakes 2012 Saturday week.
The richest race on the Perth Summer Racing Carnival program, the $1 million Group 1 Carlton Draught Railway Stakes (1600m) is set to light up Ascot Racecourse on November 24, 46 horses still in contention for the quality handicap clash.
Among them is Warwick’s Blackfriars six-year-old Rosie Rocket who will be stepping up to Group 1 company for the first time in the classic.
She will be in good hands however after Boss was confirmed to travel over and take the mount on the nine-time winner, Rosie Rocket last seen running a brave second-up second to Pop Culture in the Listed Ascot Gold Cup (1800m) last Saturday.
Boss will be the third jockey to ride the mare in as many starts this time in and Warwick couldn’t be happier to have secured the recent Cox Plate winning rider.
“I am excited to have Glen (Boss) booked to ride my horse,” he said.
“ I couldn’t believe they rang and asked to be honest, it wasn’t so long ago I was battling to get a winner and now I have a world class jockey booked on my horse in a Group One race.”
Rosie Rocket won’t be Boss’ only ride during the Festival of Perth Racing this year as he has also been booked to ride Daniel Pearce’s flying Mosayter four-year-old Travinator in the $500,000 Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at the same meeting as they shoot for their fifth win on the trot.
