Buffering Chases Group 1 Dream With 2012 Winterbottom Stakes Nomination

Buffering is amongst 19 nominations for the 2012 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot Raceourse next weekend.

Both the nominations and weights have now been released for the race, which is worth $500,000 in prize money.

Buffering will be looking to get his career back on track after suffering two shock defeats in Melbourne.

Buffering

Buffering is nominated for the 2012 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot.

The first came when sixth as the short priced favourite in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley last month, before placing a disappointing eighth in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic last weekend.

He will now be out to claim his very first Group 1 in the 2012 Winterbottom Stakes over 1,200 metres on the other side of the country.

Buffering has won 11 of his 30 race starts and has earned close to $2 million in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Mossman gelding has been allocated a weight of 58.5 kilograms under the 2012 Winterbottom Stakes’ weight-for-age conditions.

Also included in the 2012 Winterbottom Stakes is Barakey.

Barakey has won all ten of his career starts and has earned more than $350,000 in prize money.

The Key Business gelding had his first attempt at Group racing last start, where he won the Group 3 Colonel Reeves Stakes by an incredible four lengths.

Barakey is trained by Jim Taylor, who also trained Hay List for his first nine race starts before he was transferred to John McNair‘s stable.

Pinwheel, Temple Of Boom and Hallowell Belle are also included in the 2012 Winterbottom Stakes nominations.
