Sandown Stakes 2012 – Nominations Released

The $150,000 Sandown Stakes will take place as part of Sandown Guineas Day this Saturday November 17, 2012.

21 horses have been nominated for the Group 3 race at Sandown Racecourse, including Raspberries.

Raspberries has won seven of her 22 race starts and has earned more than $470,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

Her most recent result was a sixth placing in the Group 1 Myer Classic at Flemington racecourse on Victoria Derby Day.

Raspberries will be having her fourth race start for the spring and will be looking to claim her first win for the preparation in the 2012 Sandown Stakes.

Also included in the 2012 Sandown Stakes nominations is Veewap.

Veewap has won nine of his 44 career starts and has accumulated more than $370,000 in prize money.

The Lonhro gelding won the $80,000 Thoroughbreds Plate earlier this spring, with his latest run resulting in a fifth placing in the $150,000 Sale Cup behind Sertorius.

Veewap is trained by Tony Vasil at Caulfield Racecourse and is expected to be well suited to the 2012 Sandown Stakes’ 1,500 metre distance.

Jungle Ruler will line up for the 2012 Sandown Stakes where he will attempt to win his first start this preparation.

The nine-year-old veteran places third in the Peninsula Cup at Mornington Racecourse last start and appears to be peaking prior to his 2012 Sandown Stakes run.
