Honey Flower Wins 2012 GH Mumm Stakes – Flemington Results

Honey Flower has won the 2012 Listed GH Mumm Stakes at Flemington Racecourse today November 8, 2012.

The four-year-old won the race by a nose in front of Dystopia, who finished second, and Anise, who passed the post in third.

The Bel Esprit mare has now won four of her eight race starts and has earned more than $180,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

Honey Flower also won her last start at Geelong in the $100,000 BC3 Thoroughbred’s Black Pearl Handicap last start ahead of Koonoomoo.

Koonoomoo went on to win the $200,000 Group 3 Herald Sun Stakes at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

Honey Flower’s jockey, Glenn Boss, admitted that the winning margin should have been much further in the 2012 GH Mumm Stakes.

“This filly got a bit lost,” Boss said.

“When she got clear she got completely lost.

“She’s a very underestimated filly.

“She’s got a good record and she’s a good galloper.

Boss congratulated trainer Ross McDonald on his training performance with Honey Flower.

“With their one target really they’ve hit the bulls eye,” he said.

McDonald was equally thrilled with Honey Flower’s win in the Listed GH Mumm Stakes today.

“It’s great for her to win today, so we’re quite happy,” McDonald said.

“We bred the filly.”

The trainer admitted that Honey Flower was not his first choice when it came to naming the physically tough filly, however, his wife and part-owner made the final decision.

“I wanted to call her GI Jane,” he revealed.

“She called her Honey Flower and I didn’t think that went with her. But the horses make the name”
