The Group 3 2012 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) takes place today and if the market is anything to go by it is set to be a close contest.
Gai Waterhouse-trained topweight Kontiki Park ($4) is the favourite but there are plenty close in the betting .
At $6 is the in-form Merlin Mustang who is just ahead of the inconsistent but talented Wild And Proud ($6.50).
Also under double figures are the Darley-owned Offenders ($7.50), recent Sydney winner Malavio ($8) and Alma’s Fury ($9).
Others contesting the Hawkesbury Cup include Isopach ($10), Darci Be Good ($11), World Wide ($14) and Sainthood ($21).

#2 Wild And Proud $6.50
This Gai Waterhouse-trained gelding can be inconsistent but he is a classy animal on his day.
Dropping back in class after running 10th in the the Epsom and the start before he ran a solid third in the Group 2 Bill Ritchie Handicap.
Beat Manawanui in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes in the autumn and drawn well in barrier four.
#4 Offenders $7.50
The Darley-owned gelding needs to bounce back from an eight-place finish last start but looks well placed in this company.
Was third in the Group 3 Camerond Handicap in September and was a close runner-up in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes.
Has won at the distance and should get a good run from barrier three.
#11 Merling Mustang $6.00
Merlin Mustang is facing a step up in class here but looks a progressive type and he is definitely in form.
Has finished top three in his three most recent starts and gets in on the minimum with just 54kg.
