Flying Skipper Takes Out 2012 Myer Spring Fashion Stakes – Results

The 2012 Myer Spring Fashion Stakes has been won by Flying Skipper at Flemington Racecourse today.

The three-year-old won the race by a nose in front of Scapolo, who placed second, and Kazanluk, who passed the post in third.

Flying Skipper has now won two of his 12 race starts and has earned more than $115,000 in prize money.

The Danerich gelding was paying long odds of $41 to win the 2012 Myer Spring Fashion Stakes at bookmaker.com.au.

Flying Skipper was ridden by jockey Steven King in the race, who was quick to commend the horse on his ability.

“Really nice horse,” King said of Flying Skipper.

“He gave me a really nice feel and it was a good win.

“This was his target.”

The gelding is trained by John Hickmott, who was still celebrating after his son Robert won the $6 million Melbourne Cup with Green Moon on Tuesday.

“I didn’t really expect this horse to win, I thought he’d run in top five,” Hickmott admitted.

“It’s been a great week.

“(And) it’s a great day.”

Hickmott was incredibly proud that his son was able to fulfill his dream of winning a Melbourne Cup.

“You always dream of winning a Melbourne Cup,” he said.

“And Robbie’s had aspirations for a long time and its come true.”

Flying Skipper’s most recent result prior to today’s 2012 Myer Spring Fashion Stakes win was a fourth placing in a $25,000 Morphettville Handicap.
