Betting for the 2018 Group 1 $700,000 Altus...
Brilliant mare Sea Siren tops a strong field of sprinters for the Group 1 2012 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.
The four-year-old took her outstanding record to six wins from nine starts at Moonee Valley last month when winning the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m).
The daughter of Fastnet Rock has already won more than $1.3 million in prizemoney and will attempt to score her fourth victory at Group 1 level this spring.
Out to turn the tables on the John O’Shea-trained star will be four-year-old gelding Mental who flew home to grab second in the Manikato Stakes.
The Peter Snowden-trained sprinter is likely to benefit from the first-up run and is one of many quality speedsters looking to knock off Sea Siren.
Queensland’s gun sprinter Buffering was a short-priced favourite to win the Manikato after two impressive lead-up wins but failed to fire on the big stage and finished in sixth place.
The Robert Heathcote-trained gelding will be out to lose the tag of “Group 1 bridesmaid” that he has been labelled with for his many placings without success in the top grade.
Also included in the field is Gerald Ryan’s exciting filly Snitzerland who was unbeaten this spring prior to running fifth in Saturday’s Coolmore Stud Stakes.
The Golden Slipper runner-up will have to show a quick form turnaround with just a seven-day back-up as will Howmuchdoyouloveme who struggled when favourite in the Yellowglen Stakes.
Yellowglen Stakes winner Fontelina will be out to back up her impressive win in the Yellowglen Stakes on Saturday while placegetters Spirit Of Boom and Tiger Tees will be out to go one better.
Others in the field include Group 1 winner Temple Of Boom and Gilgai Stakes winner Hallowell Belle.
Odds for the Patinack Farm Classic will be up shortly and the best place to back a winner is bookmaker.com.au.
