Nechita Claims 2012 Coolmore Stud Stakes Victory – Results

Nechita has taken out the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington Racecourse today November 3, 2012.

The three-year-old filly proved too good for her competitors as she flew to victory down the Flemington straight in Melbourne.

Nechita won the race by more than a length ahead of Jolie Bay, who placed second, and Shamexpress, who finished off the race in third placing.

Race favourite Snitzerland finished back in fifth position and was unable to continue her unbeaten spring preparation or secure her first Group 1 victory.

Nechita was paying odds of $5 to win the 2012 Coolmore Stud Stakes at bookmaker.com.au.

The Fastnet Rock filly has now won three of her four race starts and has earned more than $425,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

It was the very first Group 1 win for jockey Christian Reith, who was over the moon win Nechita’s 2012 Coolmore Stud Stakes performance.

“First Group 1 ever!” Reith confirmed.

“I was pretty confident that when I finally did break a Group 1 it would be on a big day.”

Reith didn’t go into today’s 2012 Coolmore Stud Stakes with a solid race plan.

“We just took it as the race was,” he said.

“Her turn of foot; nothing in the three year-olds in Australia can touch it.”

The jockey thanked trainer John Thompson and owner Nathan Tinkler for giving him the ride aboard Nechita in today’s race.

“If it wasn’t for them and their support over the last six months I wouldn’t be here,” he said.

Thompson was incredibly pleased that Reith was able to score his first Group 1 victory with Nechita.

“First day he’s ever ridden here and his first Group 1. He deserves it,” Thompson said.

The trainer was full of emotion after the race, and was visibly thrilled with the 2012 Coolmore Stud Stakes result.

“I’ve always thought she was a top line sprinter,” Thomspon said.

“She’s a good horse going forward and I’m sure she’s got plenty more in her.

“She’s by far the fastest horse I’ve had anything to do with.

“She’s definitely a top notch sprinter.”
