Yellowglen Stakes 2012 Betting Tips

The cream of the nation’s sprinters may be being saved for next weekend’s Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) but there is still plenty of quality in Saturday’s Group 2 2012 Yellowglen Stakes (1200m).

Howmuchdoyouloveme is a short-priced favourite to win the Yellowglen Stakes on Saturday

Topping the market of the race otherwise known as the 2012 Salinger Stakes is Con Karakatsanis-trained gelding Howmuchdoyouloveme ($2.00) who will be looking to back up his outstanding first-up performance in the Caulfield Sprint.

Despite dominating the market, it will be no easy contest on Saturday, with quality sprinters being offered at value prices including the promising Pampelonne ($7.00) from the Tim Martin stable.

The only other runner under double figures is Miss Marx at $8.50 while Tiger Tees ($9.00), Spirit Of Boom ($10.00) and Golden Archer ($13.00) all have good credentials.

The Winner

#6 Howmuchdoyouloveme $2.00

Wouldn’t be rushing into take even money as he still has a bit left to prove but it’s impossible not to put this rising star on top.

The hype machine has driven his price well down following an exciting jump-out down the straight on Tuesday and if he brings that again he will be tough to beat on Saturday.

His record speaks for itself with five wins from six starts and he was mighty impressive when leading from start to finish to claim the Caulfield Sprint by two lengths.

#2 Golden Archer $13.00

Bit surprised to see this Peter Moody-trained galloper go up at such a big price given his form this spring.

He’s won three times and finished runner-up twice from four starts this time in and boasts an overall record of eight wins from 15 starts.

Ran second to Buffering in the Schillaci Stakes and has three wins and a second from four goes down the Flemington straight.

#3 Pampelonne $7.00

Looks a genuine Group 1 horse in the making. His record speaks volumes with five wins and two minor placings from nine starts and he was outstanding when winning the Shorts at Randwick first-up.

Was solid when fourth in the Schillaci Stakes and third-up here he should be at peak fitness and ready to explode down the straight.
