Fillies Head 2012 Coolmore Stud Stakes Betting Market

Some of the best three-year-old sprinters in the country will be on show at Flemington this Saturday when they contest the Group 1 2012 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) and it is two fillies who currently head the market.

Nechita is the early favourite for the Coolmore Stud Stakes

For just the second time this spring Snitzerland ($3.80) is not a clear favourite, with Patinack’s boom filly Nechita slightly ahead at $3.60.

The only other occasion where Snitzerland wasn’t the standout top elect was first-up in the San Domenico Stakes which she dominated by two lengths ahead of Driefontein and All Too Hard.

She has since gone on to win three more races and jockey Corey Brown sees no reason why reason why the streak can’t go to five this weekend.

“This is her target and Gerald has got her spot-on for the race,” Brown said.

“She’s just one of those horses that is tough as nails.”

But the Patinack camp are similarly confident about Nechita, with trainer John Thompson left excited following an impressive jump-out down the Flemington straight on Tuesday.

“She just cruised along behind them, went through a couple of gears and hit the line nicely. It was very pleasing,” Thompson said.

Outside of the top two there are plenty of legitimate chances including Queensland colt Sizzling ($4.40) who ran home strongly for fourth in the Blue Sapphire first-up at Caulfield.

The Kelso Wood-trained three-year-old has won five of nine starts with four of thos coming during an unbeaten winter campaign in Queensland.

Sydney filly Jolie Bay ($8.00) is next in the market after winning the Roman Consul Stakes and finishing second in the Brian Crowley Stakes while Roman Consul Stakes runner-up Knight Exemplar is at $9.00.

Adelaide gelding Fire Thunderbolt went within a neck of ending Snitzerland’s unbeaten spring run when second in the Blue Sapphire and represents value at $10.00 along with Blue Sapphire third placegetter Lankan Rupee ($15.00).

Markets are now available on all the top races at Flemington this Saturday so head to to back a winner at great odds.
