Yellowglen Stakes 2012 – Final Field and Barrier Draw

Racing returns to Flemington this weekend and one of the most exciting events on the 2012 Victoria Derby Day card is the Group 2 2012 Yellowglen Stakes (1200m).

Howmuchdoyouloveme heads the field for Saturday's Yellowglen Stakes

Thirteen horses have accepted for the $300,000 sprint that is also known as the 2012 Salinger Stakes and the field is headed by lightly-raced gelding Howmuchdoyouloveme.

The Written Tycoon four-year-old has won five of six starts and will start as favourite this weekend after winning the Caulfield Sprint by two lengths in his first start of the spring.

Plenty of hype came out of Flemington yesterday following his 800-metre jump-out where he left trainer Con Karakatsanis confident he can again impress this weekend.

“He did put a smile on my face he and went a bit better than I thought he would and did everything right,” Karakatsanis said.

“He has pulled up well and hopefully he can back that up on Saturday and run accordingly.”

One of the biggest dangers to Howmuchdoyouloveme is Tim Martin-trained gelding Pampelonne who burst out of the blocks with a win in the Group 2 Shorts first-up before finishing fourth in the Schillaci Stakes.

The son of Rock Of Gibraltar is a sprinter on the rise having won five of nine starts and collected more than $670,000 in prizemoney.

Joining him as one of the big guns in the Yellowglen Stakes field is Tiger Tees who will be looking to bounce back from his Moir Stakes fourth after winning the Concorde Stakes first-up.

Like Pampelonne, Tiger Tees has a terrific winning strike rate, having crossed the line in front in nine of his 14 starts.

Others in the field include Caulfield Sprint third placegetter Latin News, Queensland gelding Spirit Of Boom, and the in-form Golden Archer from the Peter Moody stable.
