Today Victoria’s Moonee Valley Racecourse is set to host a crack nine race card for Cox Plate Day 2012 with the action headlined by the ‘race where legends are made’ – the $3 million Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) – the meetings current official race scratchings and track report detailed below.

Moonee Valley racing is due to get underway this afternoon at 1:00pm (AEST) with the $250,000 Inglis Banner (1000m) where the latest crop of two-year-olds will face off, the action continuing right through until Race 9 at 6:00pm (AEST) with the mares-only $150,000 Group 3 Trojan Hand Tools Stakes (1600m).

While there’s plenty of other exciting events on the program including a field full of 2012 Melbourne Cup hopes facing off in Race 6 – the $250,000 Group 2 Drake International Cup (2500m) – the race all the fans are gearing up for will be running at 5:15pm (AEST) with Race 8 – the $3 million Group 1 Cox Plate (2400m).

The 2012 Cox Plate is shaping up as a beauty with an open field full of livewire chances.
