Greg Eurell-trained filly Love For Ransom is favourite to bounce back from a Thousand Guineas seventh and claim victory in Friday night’s Group 2 2012 Fillies Classic (1600m) at Moonee Valley.
The lightly-raced youngster is at $2.70 (bookmaker.com.au) to return to the winner’s circle at the track where she scored an impressive victory last month.
On that occasion Love For Ransom rounded up the field to run over the top of Stella Lante but she has not had any success since with a ninth-place finish preceding the Thousand Guineas seventh.
The promising filly has received little luck with barriers in the past but has drawn well this weekend and will jump from the inside.
Next best in the market is progressive Peter Moody-trained filly Mareeza ($4.20) who finished second to Cavalary Rose last start in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes.
Joining the pair at the top end of the market is Stella Lante who went down narrowly to Love For Ransom at Moonee Valley last month and most recently finished fifth in the Thousand Guineas.
Trainer John Hyam had originally planned to send the Starcraft filly to the paddock following the Thousand Guineas but has been pleased with how she has pulled up.
“The plan was to put her in the paddock after the Thousand Guineas and then I’d take her up to the Gold Coast for the 1400m Magic Millions race,” Hyam said.
“But I’ve scrapped that plan and we’ll just head to the autumn after this one.”
Other horses in the Fillies Classic market include Thousand Guineas sixth Big Chill ($8.00), the Nigel Blackiston-trained Balaclava Lady ($10.00) and Kazanluk ($16.00).
