New Zealand mare Silent Achiever will have her first start in Australia since April this Saturday when she steps out at Moonee Valley Racecourse.
The four-year-old has been entered for both the Group 3 2012 Tesio Stakes (1600m) and the Group 2 2012 Crystal Mile (1600m) after finishing fourth in a lead-up run over 1400m at Te Rapa on October 5.
A winner of five of 10 starts, it is believed the Crystal Mile is preferred option for Silent Achiever but trainer Roger James may change his mind and avoid a strong field that includes Rangirangdoo and Toorak Handicap winner Solzhenitsyn.
The daughter of O’Reilly won the Waikato Guineas, Avondale Guineas and New Zealand Derby as a three-year-old before showing solid form in Australia with a third-place finish in the Rosehill Guineas and a sixth in the Australian Derby.
It is expected to be just a brief Australian campaign for Silent Achiever who will also contest the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on November 10.
Silent Achiever is part of a three-pronged Australian spring team for James who has already seen Full Of Spirit finish unplaced in the Blazer Stakes and Moonga Stakes.
Joining the pair of mares in Melbourne is five-year-old entire He’s Remarkable who will line up on the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes.
The son of Pentire has shown promise at home so far this spring, finishing fifth in the Group 1 Windsor Park Plate and third in the Group 1 Spring Classic.
Other horses entered for the Crystal Mile this weekend include Toorak Handicap runner-up Spirit Song and Darley’s Epsom runner-up Ambidexter.
