Tristarc Stakes 2012 – Betting Tips

With the spring in full swing that means big, classy fields and that is exactly how you could describe the Group 2 2012 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield this Saturday.

Fourteen mares will contest the exciting $220,000 event, with multiple Group 1 winner Mosheen heading the market at $3.50.

Following her in the market is Premiere Stakes winner Red Tracer ($5.50), the highly-rated Soft Sand ($6.50) and Australian Oaks winner Streama ($9.00).

Others contesting the Tristarc Stakes include Darley-owned pair Raspberries ($10.00) and Appearance ($15.00), Gai Waterhouse-trained Miss Stellabelle ($15.00) and Group 1 winner Pear Tart ($21.00).

Not sure who to back in the Tristarc Stakes? Keep reading as the team have been hard at work to bring you our very best selections.

The Winner

#1 Mosheen ($3.50)

Difficult to look past Mosheen who has already won four times at Group 1 level and collected more than $2.7 million in stakes.

Prior to a throat operation she was considered among the top Cox Plate contenders and after obviously struggling in her first two spring starts she bounced back tremendously to win the Blazer Stakes against a similar field last start.

Looks a class above her rivals here.

The Placings

#12 Lucky Penny ($18.00) and #4 Red Tracer ($5.50)

Lucky Penny is a talented mare and won the first three starts of her career before failing on a heavy track in the Cockram Stakes in August.

It was her first run on a wet track and she showed she couldn’t handle it but can bounce back here on a suitable dry surface.

Red Tracer showed she is adept on all surfaces when winning the Premiere Stakes on a good track against a quality field of sprinters in her first spring start on October 6.

A highly consistent mare with nine wins and seven placings from 20 starts she looks well placed to feature in the top three here.
