Mosheen Heads 2012 Tristarc Stakes Field

Glamour mare Mosheen heads a strong field of mares for the Group 2 2012 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) which will take place as part of a bumper 10-race CaulfieldCup day card this Saturday.

Mosheen Heads A Strong Tristarc Stakes Field

After injury saw the multiple Group 1 winner struggle in the early part of the spring, her goals were reassessed and she bounced back to form with a win in the Blazer Stakes earlier this month.

But the Robert Smerdon-trained star will have to overcome an early obstacle after drawing barrier 11, with fellow fancy Streama also drawing poorly in barrier 14.

Streama, winner of the Australian Oaks in April, will need to show a form turnaround after finishing sixth in the Premiere Stakes at Randwick on October 6.

Heading into the race in form after a tremendous first-up performance is Red Tracer who got her spring off to a flyer with a one-length win in the Premiere Stakes.

The Chris Waller-trained mare boasts an excellent strike rate with nine wins and seven placings from 20 career starts.

There is no shortage of quality in the 14-horse field, with other well-known mares including Pear Tart, Soft Sand and Lucky Penny.

Pear Tart won both the Queensland Guineas and the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara in Brisbane during the winter and is likely to take great improvement out of her first-up run in the Premiere Stakes.

Soft Sand, a winner of four of 10 starts, will have to bounce back from a ninth-place effort in the Blazer Stakes while the lightly-raced Lucky Penny will appreciated the dry track after finishing last on a heavy surface in the Cockram Stakes in August.

Other Tristarc Stakes runners include Darley pair Shannara and Raspberries and the Leon Corstens-trained Rahveel.

Markets will open shortly for the Tristarc Stakes and the best place to back a winner is bookmaker.com.au.

Innovators of Quickbet technology – the fastest way to bet – bookmaker.com.au is fully Australian owned and offers a $400 bonus bet offer to new customers.
