Caulfield Sprint 2012 – Final Field and Barrier Draw

Stradbroke Handicap winner Mid Summer Music heads an 11-horse field named to contest the Group 2 2012 Caulfield Sprint (1100m) this Saturday.

The Peter Moody-trained mare will be having her second start of the spring after struggling first-up in a strong Gilgai Stakes field.

But nobody can deny the seven-year-old’s record, with 10 wins and eight placings from 25 starts contributing to a prize pool of more than $1.2 million.

While the best sprinters will be saved for Friday week’s Group 1 Manikato Stakes, there is still plenty of quality including the Peter Morgan and Craig Widdison-trained Thankgodyou’rehere.

The seven-year-old gelding is Group 1 placed and finished just a length behind Buffering when third first-up in the Moir Stakes.

Stepping out for the first time this spring is lightly-raced gelding Howmuchdoyouloveme who will be out to build on his impressive early career record of four wins from five starts.

The Con Karakatsanis-trained sprinter was last seen in July when winning the Listed Ramornie Handicap (1200m) in Grafton by four lengths.

Consistent gelding Freereturn will be chasing his second win at stakes level after winning the Regal Roller Stakes in August.

The Jason Warren-trained six-year-old has since finished 14th in the Bobbie Lewis Quality and third in the Chandler Macleod Stakes.

Coming down from Queensland after two runner-up finishes at his new home is Latin News who was Group 1 placed in the 2010 BTC Cup.

Facing a step up in class after a promising third at Caulfield last month is Stephen Brown-trained gelding Canali.

The Caulfield Sprint takes place as part of a 10-race card for Caulfield Cup Day this weekend.

The best place to bet on all the classy racing action this weekend is, who are offering a $400 bonus bet to customers who sign up today quoting the code BONUSBET.
