Invest Heads 2012 Race-Tech Classic Field

Group 1 winner Invest heads a large 16-horse field for the 2012 Race-Tech Classic (1600m) which takes place as a key support race on the Thousand Guineas Day card this Wednesday.

Invest heads the field for the Race-Tech Classic on Wednesday

The Heath Connors-trained mare tasted Group 1 success in the Schweppes Oaks at Morphetville in April in a campaign that also saw her win the Group 3 Roses at Doomben in May.

But the daughter of Dehere will have to improve remarkably from her first-up showing in the Blazer Stakes where she finished six lengths off winner Mosheen when 13th.

Invest will carry the topweight of 59kg in the mares’ race with last-start winner Oasis Bloom second in the weights with 58kg.

Oasis Bloom has been earmaked by trainer Peter Morgan as a Melbourne Cup contender for next year and is coming off a strong win over Spirit Song in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes.

There are two other last-start winners in the field, with Oasis Bloom joined by Star Of Giselle and Tranquera.

Both runners face a step up in class, with Tranquera coming off a dominant victory at Mornington and Star Of Giselle a strong win at Caulfield late last month.

Experienced mare Enchanting Waters won the Group 3 Lord Reims Stakes in March but to rejoin the winner’s circle this weekend will have to show a quick form turnaround after a disappointing 14th in the Blazer Stakes.

Other horses contesting the Race-tech Classic include Patinack’s Pretty Pins, the Greg Eurell-trained Sister Norma and last-start placegetter Model To Nite.

Don’t forget about this great midweek meeting which features the Group 1 Thousand Guineas as well as two other black-type races.

Don’t miss great odds or the sensational betting options available at, who are fully Australian owned and offer a huge $400 bonus bet to new customers!
