Thoroughbred Club Stakes 2012 – Nominations Released

A strong nominations list has been announced for the Group 3 2012 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Hoss Amor

Hoss Amor is one of the top nominations for the Thoroughbred Club Stakes

Twenty two three-year-old fillies have been nominated for the $150,000 sprint including well-regarded pair Hoss Amor and Elite Elle.

After starring during Queensland’s winter carnival, the John O’Shea-trained Hoss Amor made a promising spring start last last month when second to Snitzerland in the Champagne Stakes.

Elite Elle finished fourth on that occasion after kicking her spring campaign off with a win in the Listed Quezette Stakes and a fourth in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes.

Gerald Ryan has elected to go to the Blue Sapphire with star filly Snitzerland but has entered Cavalry Rose for the Thoroughbred Club Stakes.

The daughter of Charge Forward finished second in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes as a two-year-old but has so far failed to recapture her juvenile form from two starts.

She finished 7 1/2 lengths behind Nechita when eighth in the Silver Shadow Stakes and was a distant fourth in the Reginald Allen Quality on September 29.

Consistent Robert Smerdon-trained filly Saturn Rock will be out to continue her promising form this weekend after kicking off her spring with consecutive placings.

Formerly trained by Shaun Ritchie in New Zealand, Saturn Rock finished third to Love For Ransom first-up at Moonee Valley before again running third in the Champagne Stakes.

Very lightly raced but signalling plenty of potential is A Time For Julia who won first-up at Kilmore in convincing fashion before finishing second in her first Metropolitan test at Caulfield on September 30.

Other horses nominated for the Thoroughbred Club Stakes include Queensland filly Snipzu, the Darley-owned Omniscient and Patinack’s Roll The Bones.
