Turnbull Stakes Day 2012 – Race Scratchings

Turnbull Stakes Day is set to take place at Flemington Racecourse today October 6, 2012, with the first race scheduled to run at 12.25pm (AEST).

Flemington’s track is currently rated as a Good 3, however, there has still been a total of 18 scratchings across the nine-card meet.

In the feature race of the day, the 2012 Turnbull Stakes, there has been just one withdrawal from the race.

Sanagas finished 13th in his first-up race start this spring in the Group 2 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield racecourse, before placing 10th in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes last run.

The six-year-old spent his first 11 race starts in Europe and North America prior to being imported to Australia to train under the successful Bart Cummings.

Sanagas already has a Group 1 title to his name, winning the Hollywood Turf Cup Stakes in the United States almost one year ago.

The Lomitas gelding is nominated for the Group 1 Caulfield Cup and $6 million Melbourne Cup this spring racing carnival.
