King’s Rose was promising in second place behind Hallowell Belle, while Spirit Of Boom finished a gallant third.

Hallowell Belle was paying odds of $7.50 to win the 2012 Gilgai Stakes at bookmaker.com.au and was the market mover in the race.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse’s stable representative, Danny Myers, was at the track to witness Hallowell Belle win the 2012 Gilgai Stakes.

“It’s fantastic,” Myers said.

“It’s a great time of year to be here (in Melbourne).

“As usual the boss came home strong.

“Full credit to Gai, she’s a master at picking these races for these horses.

“She’s really going well and it’s great to bring Hallowell Belle here.

“The world’s her oyster.”

Jockey Vlad Duric steered Hallowell Belle to today’s 2012 Gilgai Stakes win in Melbourne.

“Gai’s team’s absolutely flying,” Duric said.

Duric felt the effort from Hallowell Belle was outstanding in today’s race.

“She had that bunny to follow in front of her,” he said.

“I let her start to stride and she dug in really deep.

“She gave me a super feel today and I’m sure she’ll improve and go on from here.”
