Race 3 Results – Vintage Stakes 2012 Won By Pronto Pronto

The Listed Vintage Stakes has been won by Pronto Pronto at Flemington Racecourse today October 6, 2012.

The three-year-old won the race by a head in front of Limes, who finished in second, and Union Gap, who was a luckless third.

Pronto Pronto has now won two of his seven race starts and has earned more than $150,000 in prize money.

The Snitzel colt’s only other win came at Sandown racecourse in February, where he won the $30,000 Schweppes Handicap for two-year-olds ahead of Shamexpress.

Trainer Jason Warren revealed that Pronto Pronto was able to win despite the run not going to plan.

“Plans were to get cover early and the horse just landed in front,” Warren said.

“Ben (Melham)’s obviously stole the race so it’s a good effort.

“(But) when he landed in front I started to curse him.”

Pronto Pronto has a short eight day back up into today’s 2012 Vintage Stakes after placing fifth in the $100,000 Sportingbet Plate at Moonee Valley Racecourse on September 28.

“He got home and ate that well after Moonee Valley,” Warren said.

“I was very confident coming into today.”

Jockey Ben Melham was aboard Pronto Pronto for his 2012 Vintage Stakes winning ride.

“He’s a bit of an unruly horse,” Melham said.

“I went early today and I was fortunate enough to hang on”

Pronto Pronto was paying odds of $12 to win the 2012 Vintage Stakes at bookmaker.com.au, while unplaced runner Vila Splendido was the $4.60 favourite.
