Premiere Stakes 2012 – Betting Tips

The feature sprint on the Randwick card this weekend is the Group 2 2012 Premiere Stakes (1200m) which stands to be an important race leading into the rest of the spring.

A number of these horses will be out to press their claims that they can go on to bigger things and none more so than favourite Rain Affair ($2.30).

He failed first-up when an odds-on pop and trainer Joe Pride has said he must win here or will be off to the paddock for a break.

Next best in the market are multiple Group 1 winner Streama ($6.00) and talented Chris Waller-trained mare Red Tracer ($6.00).

They are two of a number of mares who are bound to be competitive on Saturday with other chances including Satin Shoes ($8.00) and Pear Tart ($12.00).

Keep reading to get a run down on the very best predictions from the experts who have been hard at work analysing the form.

The Winner

#1 Rain Affair $2.30

Not overly keen on the $2.30 here but it’s hard to look past the fact that if Rain Affair is right, and that’s an if, he’s simply far too good.

The first run suggested not all was well with the five-year-old but he has since trialled well and has stats that are hard to ignore.

Eleven wins from 16 starts and two Group 1 placings makes him the one to beat by a long way here. If he’s at 90 per cent he simply leads and wins but on the form of last run it is a gamble. Rain would be a massive advantage.

The Placings

#6 Pear Tart $12.00 and #7 Satin Shoes $8.00

Patinack filly Pear Tart has a big future. Bound for the Myer Classic the four-year-old has won six of nine starts including her last four on the trot.

No doubt she faces a better field than anything she has faced before this weekend but beat the likes of Mental and Free Wheeling in the Queensland Guineas and also won the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara.

Satin Shoes has drawn wide in barrier 10 but has a fitness edge on most of these. Finished third first-up in the Concorde Stakes ahead of Rain Affair and was a narrow second to the impressive Pampelonne in the Shorts.
