Proverb Wins 2012 Listed Dulcify Quality – Rosehill Race 2 Results

Proverb has won the Listed Dulcify Quality at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse today September 29, 2012.

The three-year-old won the race by a head in front of Indianapolis, who finished second, and Laser Flash, who passed the post in third.

Proverb has now won two of his seven race starts and has earned more than $130,000 in prize money.

The Commands gelding finished second in his first-up start this spring in the Listed Ming Dynasty Quality, before placing third behind Proisir in the Group 3 Spring Stakes last start.

Trainer Peter Snowden was at the track to witness today’s 2012 Dulcify Quality win and was not bothered by the small winning margin.

“Whether it was a neck or ten lengths he won, that’s the main thing,” Snowden said.

“He won and that’s all he has to do.”

Snowden hinted that Proverb would probably not return to Royal Randwick for the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes next weekend and he would instead take him down to Sydney for other three-year-old feature races later in the spring.

“Right at this moment I don’t like to make calls,” he said.

“(But) for me it’s unlikely.”

Proverb was ridden to victory by jockey Kerrin McEvoy in the 2012 Dulcify Quality.

“He just travelled really well,” McEvoy said.

“That wind out there is really playing a part. It’s fairly strong.”

McEvoy feels Proverb would perform at his best on a drier track rather than today’s Dead 5-rated course.

“He’s probably looking for a dry track,” he said.

“He didn’t enjoy that.

“I’d say it’s definitely dead, maybe even a touch worse.”
