There are plenty of short-priced favourites getting about this weekend and the Group 3 2012 Champagne Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley tonight features one of them.
Snitzerland ($1.60) has proven herself to be a very accomplished filly, with the Golden Slipper runner-up backing up a star two-year-old career with two wins to being her spring campaign as a three-year-old.
She beat the boys in both the San Domenico Stakes and the Danehill Stakes and drops back to race her own sex here.
But there are some other quality fillies in the race including the lightly-raced Elite Elle ($4.40) and multiple stakes winner Hoss Amor ($11.00).
If you are unsure what direction to take in this three-year-old fillies’ sprint, keep reading to see how the Races.com.au experts think the race will pan out.
#1 Snitzerland $1.65
For the reasons already discussed above, Snitzerland should be too classy for her rivals here.
Two from so far this preparation, she hasn’t missed a beat and gets the gun run from barrier one which should allow her to lead from start to finish.
The market suggests Elite Elle is the main danger to the favourite but think Hoss Amor may provide the biggest threat.
She won first-up in her Brisbane winter campaign where she won three stakes races from four starts so expect her to come out flying here.
Omniscient is only lightly raced and improving every start. Won a midweek at Canterbury two weeks ago before stepping into stakes racing at Flemington where she showed he can climb through the grades when third in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes.
