Bill Stutt Stakes 2012 – Preview and Tips

The Group 2 2012 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley tonight will be one of the most watched races of the weekend for one reason. Pierro.

Pierro

Pierro should be a class above his rivals in the Stutt Stakes

The star colt is having his final hitout ahead of the Caulfield Guineas and his first in Melbourne after conquering all comers so far in his seven-start career.

The record stands at seven wins from seven starts, including three at Group 1 level, and stakes in excess of $3 million.

It’s little wonder the boom colt is being offered at “Black Caviar” odds of $1.10 for tonight’s race.

Next best in the market is the in-form Jimando ($8.00) with all other runners at $31.00 or more.

It’s not hard to work out who the winner will be but there are place spots up for grabs and horses worth throwing into multiple so keep reading for the Races.com.au Bill Stutt Stakes.

The Winner

#1 Pierro $1.10

1111111. Is how the superstar’s form currently reads. There should be an extra “1” after tonight’s race.

The Placings

#4 Road Trippin $31.00 and #2 Jimando $8.00

Road Trippin appears to be a progressive type looking for further and this race is being used as step towards the Victoria Derby.

The promising three-year-old has a relaxed manner and will be ridden quietly but has enough talented to produce a strong finish. Fourth start of the spring for him so fit and ready for this.

Jimando first signalled his potential as a two-year-old when running fourth to Samaready in the Blue Diamond.

He won and easily race in Adelaide first-up before winning the Henry Bucks Stakes (1400m) and should appreciate the extra distance here on his way to either the Caulfield Guineas or Victoria Derby.
