Lady Of Harrods chased down Commanding Jewel to win the Thousand Guineas Prelude 2012

Coming off a win in the McNeil Stakes the Russell Cameron-trained youngster was put up at double figure odds during the week but showed she was a classy horse as she won by half a length ahead of the favourite.

Trainer Russell Cameron said the plan was to lead but was thrilled with her ability to take a sit  as Commanding Jewel set a hot pace up front.

“She was just too good. We really wanted to lead but too much pace so we just sat,” Cameron said.

Camerond said the next test for the exciting youngster would be the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington on October 6 and provided she gets through that she will get her chance in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas.

Arnold picked up the ride following the suspension of Jamie Mott and admitted 1600m presents a slight query but with good improvement thinks she could be a Thousand Guineas contender.

“She did a good kick. She was probably out right on the line but with that improvement she might be able to go on.”

“You win the [Manifold] you’ve got go don’t you [to the Thousand Guineas]. She’s probably a little query but if she gets that same gate and same good run there’s probably no reason why she couldn’t get the mile.”

Adelaide filly Molto Bene had the eye-catching run of the race to bolt home for third and is likely to appreciate the step up in distance in the Thousand Guineas.
