Caulfield Race Scratchings – 2012 Underwood Stakes Day

The first race of Underwood Stakes Day 2012 is due to jump at 12pm AEST today at Caulfield Racecourse.

Despite the perfect conditions and Dead 4-rated track, there have been a large number of scratchings throughout the day.

Curtana

Curtana has been scratched from the 2012 How Now Stakes field.

While there have been no scratchings in the major race of the day, the 2012 Underwood Stakes, the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes and Group 3 How Now Stakes has both experienced withdrawals.

Both emergencies have been scratched from the 2012 Naturalism Stakes field, with Fruehling and Pacino missing out on a chance at ballot exemption for the 2012 Caulfield Cup.

In the 2012 How Now Stakes, which is this year named the Sportingbet Sprint, there are a total of six scratchings from the $150,000 race.

Included in the race withdrawals is Curtana, who was due to have her first spring start in the 2012 How Now Stakes and was well-backed in the betting.
