Waller Dominates Small 2012 George Main Stakes Field

Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller dominates the field for the Group 1 2012 George Main Stakes (1600m) with three runners in the eight horse field coming from his stable.

Shoot Out

Shoot Out kicks off his spring in the Group 1 George Main Stakes on Saturday

Heading the Waller-trained trio is Shoot Out who will be having his first start of the spring after an impressive autumn that was highlighted by a Group 1 win in the Chipping Norton Stakes.

Waller has trialled the six-year-old three times to prepare him for the first-up test and expects him to give a good showing despite lacking race fitness.

“He is as fit as we can get him for 1600 metres first-up with racing him,” Waller said.

“He lacks a bit of match practice but I still think he will go well.”

Other horses lining up for Waller are 2010 Doncaster Mile winner Rangirangdoo and nine-year-old Danleigh who showed no signs of his age when winning the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes.

All of Waller’s runners appear to be top chances in the $350,000 Randwick feature but they will face a tough test against 2011 Emirates winner Secret Admirer.

The five-year-old mare has hit the line strongly to finish second in both the Group 2 Warwick Stakes and the Chelmsford Stakes and will be fit and firing for Saturday’s test.

In a vote of confidence for the daughter of Dubawi Corey Brown as elected to ride her instead of Rangirangdoo.

“Secret Admirer is heading down to Melbourne for either the Caulfield Cup or the Cox Plate and if I was to get off her I know I wouldn’t get back on her,” Brown said.

Spruik colt All Too Hard will get a chance to prove many doubters wrong when he steps up to open company and 1600 metres for the first time and will have new jockey Chris Munce aboard for the first time.

Other George Main Stakes starters include Queensland Oaks winner Quintessential, Stuart Webb-trained Yosei and Gary Portelli’s Somepin Anypin.
