Dear Demi Heads 2012 Tea Rose Stakes Field

Clarry Connors-trained filly Dear Demi heads a nine-horse field for the latest leg of the Princess Series, the Group 2 2012 Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) at Randwick.

Dear Demi

Dear Demi heads the field for Saturday's Tea Rose Stakes

The talented three-year-old is heading towards the 2012 VRC Oaks but showed she can have an impact over shorter distances last start when winning the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1400m) by a length.

It is expected she will only improve as she steps up in distance this Saturday and she will again be ridden by star New Zealand jockey James McDonald.

Darley filly Meidung will be out to exact revenge on Dear Demi and claim her first victory of the season after finishing second to Nechita in the Silver Shadow Stakes before trailing to Dear Demi to the line in the Furious.

The consistent daughter of Bernadini has won just once from six starts but has only missed a place on one occasion.

Many of the fillies in the nine-horse field have been seen in the previous two Princess Series races but one who will be getting he first stakes test is the Bart Cummings-trained Norzita.

A daughter of Thorn Park, Norzita has won once from four starts and finished second to highly-rated colt Proisir at Rosehill earlier this month.

Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller has one runner, with Jade Marauder out to continue the improvement shown in the Furious Stakes where produced a strong finish to run third and nearly topple Meidung for second place.

Anthony Cummings has two Tea Rose Stakes contenders with Calamba and Dolphus while Gai Waterhouse has one runner with Vaquera.
